Stakes per golfer

When a side goes 2 down in a nine-hole bet, a new bet for the same stake starts on the next hole and runs to the end of that nine. A press can be pressed the same way. The overall 18 is never pressed.

The Nassau, bet by bet

A Nassau is three match-play bets in one: the front nine, the back nine and the full 18. You don't need scores for it. For each hole, tap the side that won it or tap Halved. The page keeps a live status on every bet, like “A 2 UP thru 7”, and closes a bet out the moment it can't be caught, so a 3-up lead with two to play reads “A wins 3&2”.

Stakes are per golfer. If the front is $5 and your side wins it, you and your partner each collect $5 and each golfer on the other side pays $5. A tied bet is a push. Play it 1 v 1 or 2 v 2; anyone on the roster who isn't on a side just sits the Nassau out.

Presses

Turn on automatic presses and the calculator follows the usual 2-down rule. When a side falls 2 down in a nine-hole bet, a new bet for the same stake starts on the next hole and runs to the end of that nine. Each bet can start one press, and a press can be pressed the same way, which is how a bad front nine turns into four bets. The overall 18 is never pressed. If your group presses by hand, leave it off and add the extra bet as its own line under Other bets.

Skins

A skin goes to the outright low score on a hole. Enter gross or net, whatever your group plays; the calculator compares the numbers you type and doesn't hand out strokes. A hole counts once everyone in the skins has a score on it.

With carryover on, a tied skin rolls to the next hole, and the next outright winner takes the lot. With it off, a tie is a dead skin. A carryover still alive after the last hole is shown as unclaimed rather than quietly paid to someone.

Per skin means each skin is worth the amount from every other player in the skins. Pot means everyone buys in and the pot is split evenly across the skins won. When the pot doesn't divide to the cent, the leftover cents go one each to the earliest skins, so the payouts always add back up to the pot. If nobody wins a skin, everyone gets their money back.

Settle Up

Everything rolls into one balance per golfer: the Nassau, the skins and any other bets you add. Then the golfer who owes the most pays the golfer who is owed the most, as much as clears one of them, until everyone is square. That never takes more payments than one fewer than the number of golfers, and it reads like you'd say it: “Mike pays Ryan $25.” Every total is checked to add up to zero, so no money appears or disappears between golfers.

Copy for group chat gives you the whole thing as plain text. Share link keeps the scores and names in the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server, and nothing is saved anywhere. Making the groups for the next round? The golf pairings generator rotates foursomes across every round.

Frequently asked

How does a Nassau pay out?
A Nassau is three bets: the front nine, the back nine and the full 18. The side ahead on each stretch wins it. Every golfer on the winning side collects the stake and every golfer on the losing side pays it. A tied bet is a push.
How do the automatic presses work?
When a side goes 2 down in a nine-hole bet, a new bet for the same stake starts on the next hole and runs to the end of that nine. Each bet can start one press, and a press can be pressed the same way. The overall 18 is never pressed.
What happens to a tied skin?
With carryover on, a tied hole's skin rolls on to the next hole until someone wins a hole outright. With carryover off, the tied skin is dead. A carryover still open after the 18th hole is won by nobody.
Does the calculator give handicap strokes?
No. Enter gross or net scores, whichever your group plays, and it compares the numbers you type.
How does Settle Up decide who pays who?
It adds every result into one balance per golfer, then has the golfer who owes the most pay the golfer who is owed the most until everyone is square. That never takes more payments than one fewer than the number of golfers.
